Five more Big 12 games, and we’re suddenly left with more questions than answers when it comes to the rapidly approaching conference championship game.
After firmly taking control of the conference with a win over Iowa State last week, Oklahoma State fell in overtime to Texas, opening the door for somebody else to join Iowa State in the conference championship.
With Kansas State falling on the road to West Virginia, that leaves Oklahoma firmly in the mix to win its sixth-straight Big 12 championship, especially after the Sooners took care of business in dominant fashion in Lubbock in Saturday.
How it all shakes out will depend largely on two remaining games: Oklahoma-Oklahoma State and Iowa State-Kansas State. Both are scheduled for November 21.
As for the college football playoff, the Big 12’s hopes likely died in Stillwater on Saturday night. It’s not out of the picture for Oklahoma or Iowa State to work its way back in, but it would take a lot of help.
