Prior to the start of the 2020 college football season, Texas offensive lineman Willie Tyler decided to opt-out due to coronavirus concerns.
Tyler was expected to compete for a back-up role on the interior of the Longhorns offensive line. However, plenty has changed over the course of one season as new head coach Steve Sarkisian has assembled an entirely new coaching staff outside of the running backs and wide receiver coach.
Texas’ former offensive line coach Herb Hand has been replaced by well-known and respected offensive line coach Kyle Flood from Alabama. On top of that, several younger offensive lineman have emerged as starters during Tyler’s absence.
On Tuesday, it was reported by Inside Texas that Tyler is now looking to play elsewhere and has entered his name in the NCAA transfer portal.
