The 2023-2024 transfer portal window opened on Dec. 4 and will run through Jan. 2.
As is every year, Texas will likely lose a handful of players but also bring in newcomers at positions of need via the portal. The Longhorns have had success in bringing in big-time transfers in the past, including Adonai Mitchell and Quinn Ewers.
One of the first targets for Texas in the transfer portal has been Purdue wide receiver Deion Burks. On3 Sports reported that the Longhorns have expressed interest and offered Burks this week.
The redshirt sophomore is expected to be one of the most sought-after players in the portal. Burks finished the 2023 season with 47 catches for 629 yards and seven touchdowns.
With Xavier Worthy, Adonai Mitchell and Ja’Tavion Sanders likely to depart for the 2024 NFL draft this offseason, bringing in an experienced receiving threat such as Burks would be a massive win for Steve Sarkisian’s staff.
Deion Burks has become one of the most sought-after names in the transfer portal.
Texas, Miami, USC, Auburn, Utah, Washington and Oregon have all expressed interest and offered, a source tells @On3sports.
