Texas offers one of the top rated transfers in linebacker Jacoby Windmon

Texas should be busy in the transfer portal this offseason.

With all the talent floating around in the transfer portal, Texas’ coaching staff is wasting no time going after some of the biggest names.

Former UNLV linebacker Jacoby Windmon announced via Twitter that he received an offer from the University of Texas. The Longhorns badly need someone who has experience and production to come in and not only be an impact player, but provide leadership as well.

All of the players in the transfer portal are re-ranked based off how they have done at their initial school, as well as how they are projected to do. As a member of the class of 2019, Windmon was rated the 2,124th player in the nation. His successful career at UNLV has garnered him the ranking of the No. 14 player in the transfer portal.

This past season was a career year for him, as he registered 118 total tackles, 72 solo tackles which was tied for sixth in the nation, and also accumulated 6.5 sacks on the season.

The Longhorns were not the only school to offer Windmon, as he has recently picked up offers from Houston, Kansas, San Diego State, and Iowa State.

Texas needs all the help they can get, and are clearly targeting players with tangible experience and playing time unlike last season’s transfer acquisitions.
