The perception of Texas’ football season has taken a complete turn over the past couple of weeks.
Texas looked to be heading down the same rabbit hole of the past after blowing a double-digit second-half lead against Texas Tech in Lubbock. Outside panic began to sit in as the Longhorns held player-only meetings with the heart of the Big 12 schedule coming up.
Two weeks later, Texas is riding a two-game winning streak and is back inside the top 25 rankings. The Horns handled business with a comfortable win over West Virginia before dismantling Oklahoma in the Red River Showdown.
Quarterback Quinn Ewers dazzled in his return to action, throwing for four touchdowns in the 49-0 win over the Sooners. Texas’ defense continues to improve as the year progresses.
The national media is back on the Texas hype train after this newly built momentum.
The Longhorns sit as 16.5-point favorites against Iowa State this weekend. A wide margin for a Cyclones team that boast the No. 1 defense in the Big 12. Matt Campbell’s squad is also riding a three-game win streak against Texas.
Texas can not afford to overlook a 3-3 Iowa State team with No. 8 Oklahoma State on the horizon.
Texas is favored by 16 vs Iowa State.
That’s some serious rat poison.ISU hasn’t lost by that much in 30 games & has Big 12’s #1 D.
Texas has to avoid trap game potential:
-Coming off emotional win vs rival
-Early kickoff vs overlooked team
-Huge matchup vs OKST looming in 2 wks— Alex Loeb (@SpanningTheLoeb) October 10, 2022
