Texas misses out on Georgia transfer DB Latavious Brini

In somewhat of a surprise, Brini committed to Arkansas on Sunday.

The Longhorns were expected to be getting more experienced in the defensive back group thanks to another transfer portal commit, but lost out on Latavious Brini.

The former Georgia safety took to Twitter to announce that he will be playing his final season of college football at Arkansas.

The grad transfer started 11 of 15 games for Georgia this season at the STAR (nickelback) position, before losing his spot towards the end of the season. He finished the year with a career high 38 total tackles, along with 2.5 tackles for a loss.

He would have surely added some much needed experience to a defensive back room that lost multiple starters in BJ Foster (transfer), Brenden Schooler (graduation), and Josh Thompson (NFL). The Longhorns will either have to look elsewhere in the portal, or work with the players that they have on the roster.

Arkansas has now added another talented player to their class of transfers that ranks in the top-10 in 247Sports’ transfer classes.
