Texas makes the top eight for four-star CB Makari Vickers

The two-sport star excels on the football field and the track.

Four-star Makari Vickers is one of the top defensive prospects in the nation. 247Sports ranks the Florida product as the No. 78 player and No. 5 defensive back in the 2023 cycle.

The two-sport star excels on the football field and the track, and has racked up an impressive 21 offers up to this point.

Vickers named the top eight schools in his recruitment via Twitter on Friday. Texas made the cut along with the likes of Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Oklahoma and Oregon.

Texas is looking for some momentum in the 2023 recruiting class. The Longhorns have five commits so far, good for the No. 19 ranked group in the country.

Vickers is set to visit Oklahoma during the first week of June. Getting the speedy defensive back on campus for a summer visit would provide a huge boost to Texas’ chances in this recruitment.
