There’s excitement and question marks surrounding the wide receiver and running back groups, but that’s primarily situated around who’s going to step up and outperform the others. Specifically, i’m interested in seeing wide receiver Jordan Whittington in the slot. He has a great opportunity to showcase his talents against UTEP with starting slot receiver Jake Smith sidelined. Whittington needs the live game reps as he was injured the majority of his freshman season. His potential in this offense is off the charts.
Witnessing Chris Ash’s new defensive scheme will be exciting in itself, but i’ll be paying close attention to Alfred Collins on the defensive line. The true freshman is currently listed as a backup defensive tackle behind Ta’Quon Graham. Due to Texas being heavy favorites, it should allow Collins plenty of reps.
