The rivalry renewal of Texas vs. Texas A&M is already the hottest ticket in the country. Now, it seems officials at the two schools are teaming up to make the game even bigger.
Texas A&M Athletic Director Trev Alberts and Texas Athletic Director Chris Del Conte will hold a joint press conference next Thursday, August 22, to make an announcement regarding the Lone Star Showdown.
We’ll have to wait until next week to find out exactly what they have planned. There’s been a lot of speculation that they could make the game a neutral site game. But that seems very unlikely.
The announcement will probably introduce a primary sponsor of the game. The Red River Rivalry with Oklahoma has its own title sponsor in Allstate. The duo could also announce some events surrounding the game.

The two schools haven’t played in football since 2011, A&M’s final year in the Big 12. 12 years later, both teams are both in the SEC and the annual game will begin again.
Texas beat A&M, in what was thought to be the series’ final game, 27-25 on a Case McCoy led comeback capped by a Justin Tucker FG as time ran out.
The 2024 game will cost fans a pretty penny. SportKeeda has ranked the Top 10 most expensive games in college football this year. The Texas-Texas A&M game ranks No. 1 with the average ticket price at $625 dollars.
