No matter how many different storylines you draw up, the quarterback competition is going to be the No. 1 story of the spring. Casey Thompson and Hudson Card are the two men preparing for battle. The former heavily impressed in the second half against the Alamo Bowl against Colorado, while Card remains a mystery at the college level.

If you asked this question at the end of the Alamo Bowl, the surefire answer would have been Thompson. As time has passed and spring ball has drawn closer, the sense of Card coming along has grown stronger. He may not be as athletic, but the Austin native throws a beautiful ball and can be mobile when needed in situations. Sounds like the perfect quarterback for Steve Sarkisian.

Whoever steps onto the field on Sept. 4 against Louisiana, the Texas offense is going to be in great hands. Thompson provides an already proven product that we know can be solid. Card may be a bit more unknown, but his potential could lead Texas to heights even higher than Sam Ehlinger.
