True freshmen step up
For starters, Bijan Robinson had one of the more impressive performances as a Texas football player on Saturday. The true freshman finally showed what the hype surrounding him was about. The Longhorns will have one of the top backs in the country going into next season.
Staying on the offensive side of the ball, watching Jake Majors and Andrej Karic on the offensive line was promising. Karic came in once Kerstetter went down with an injury; Majors started at center. The two will get two more shots at starting.
Jerrin Thompson was the third true freshman who made a major impact. His interception in the first quarter led to an easy 1-yard rushing touchdown for Roschon Johnson. Thompson was replacing Caden Sterns, who also opted out for the NFL draft.
Big performances from those three players prove the future is bright for Texas, no matter what happens with the coaching staff. The talent will never not be there.
