Texas Longhorns Football: Five reasons for the 69-31 win over Kansas State

Despite dealing with off-field distractions, UT produced a good win over Kansas State. Five reasons the Longhorns pulled it off.

Creating turnovers

After not creating any turnovers against West Virginia or Iowa State, Texas’ defense forced three against Kansas State. More importantly, 14 points were scored off of them.

Jerrin Thompson and David Gbenda picked off quarterback Will Howard. It was the first career interception for both players. Following each pick, it  took one play for the offense to get into the end zone.

The final turnover came on a mixed exchange between Howard and Duece Vaughn that ended up on the ground. Jacoby Jones scooped it up to put Texas in great field position. However, Cameron Dicker missed a field goal to leave the Longhorns empty handed.

If there was any positive from Chris Ash’s side of the ball, it was finally forcing turnovers.
