Texas Longhorns finish top 20 in final AP Poll

The Texas Longhorns finished the season with a 7-3 record after the Alamo Bowl.

The 2020 college football season has officially concluded following Alabama’s dismantling of Ohio State in the national championship. It’s now time to take one final look at the AP poll.

The Longhorns finished ranked as a top 20 team, landing at No. 19 overall. Tom Herman’s squad held a 6-3 record as they marched into the postseason for the Valero Alamo Bowl against the Colorado Buffaloes of the Pac 12 Conference. Texas absolutely demolished them in the second half led by running back Bijan Robinson and backup quarterback Casey Thompson.

The highest-ranked Big 12 program was the Oklahoma Sooners at No. 6 in the final rankings. The Iowa State Cyclones came in just behind them at No. 9 overall after defeating Oregon in the Playstation Fiesta Bowl. Oklahoma State fell just one spot behind the Longhorns at No. 20, while Texas Christian and West Virginia are not listed among the final rankings but did receive votes.
