Texas Longhorns climb in latest USA TODAY Sports re-rank of all FBS teams

The Texas Longhorns are coming off their third-consecutive win on Saturday. Following the 17-13 victory, they are climbing in the rankings.

Paul Myerberg is back with his weekly re-rank of all 127 FBS teams. His new No. 1 team is the Alabama Crimson Tide followed by the Notre Dame Fighting Irish after their win over Clemson.

The Texas Longhorns climbed up six spots after defeating the West Virginia Mountaineers on Saturday 17-13. The Mountaineers only dropped one spot to No. 42 with the loss. The Longhorns were No. 30 but are now No. 24. The Longhorns jumped over the Auburn Tigers, Washington Huskies and Utah Utes to get back inside the top 25.

The biggest winner in the re-rank were the Texas Longhorns who jumped up the six spots, Texas Christian also jumped six spots after beating Texas Tech in Fort Worth on Saturday. The Horned Frogs won after the Red Raiders head coach decided to kick a field goal on second down and four. The kick went wide left and three plays later Max Duggan ran it 81 yards to seal the victory. The Red Raiders dropped 12 spots as the biggest loser in the new rankings.

The Longhorns will now focus on playing the No. 125 ranked Kansas Jayhawks when they come off the bye. The Jayhawks haven’t won a single game since they beat Texas Tech on Oct. 26 of last season. They played the Longhorns close last year in Austin with their highest-scoring outburst. Their 48 points tied their season high against Boston College.
