Texas LB DeMarvion Overshown named semifinalist for Butkus Award

The award is given annually to the top linebacker in college football.

For the second consecutive year, Texas linebacker DeMarvion Overshown has been selected as a semifinalist for the Butkus Award.

The honor is given annually to the top linebacker in college football. Texas ex Derrick Johnson won the award in 2004 and was a finalist in 2003 and Sergio Kindle was a finalist in 2009.

Overshown has played in every game for Texas this season, totaling 58 tackles (31 solo), 6.0 tackles for loss, one quarterback hurry, three pass breakups and 2.5 sacks. He recorded a season-high 10 tackles against UTSA.

The senior has compiled 211 tackles (118 solo), 26.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, three interceptions, three forced fumbles, three fumbles recoveries and 15 pass breakups throughout his collegiate career.

Finalists for the Butkus Award will be announced on Nov. 21 by the award committee. Other notable semifinalists include Drew Sanders (Arkansas), Henry To’o To’o (Alabama), Tommy Eichenberg (Ohio State), Jack Campbell (Iowa) and Trenton Simpson (Clemson).
