Texas lands four-star edge Tausili Akana over Oklahoma, others

Tausili Akana is the No. 1 overall recruit from Utah and the No. 4 edge in the country.

The start of the early signing period on Wednesday went as well as Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian could have hoped.

The Longhorns managed to sign all 21 commits in their 2023 recruiting class, including five-star quarterback Arch Manning, five-star running back Cedric Baxter Jr. and five-star linebacker Anthony Hill.

On top of that, Texas pulled off a major recruiting win over Oklahoma for four-star edge Tausili Akana. The Sooners were viewed as the favorite for Akana for quite some time now, but Sarkisian’s staff was able to make a late push.

Akana announced his commitment to Texas on Wednesday and signed his letter of intent. He is rated the No. 1 overall prospect in Utah and the No. 4 edge in the country, according to 247Sports.

What a monumental day for the future of Texas’ football program.
