Hours after national signing day concluded, the Longhorns added a piece to their 2021 recruiting class.
Three-star quarterback Cole Lourd committed to Texas on Thursday as a preferred walk-on. Head coach Steve Sarkisian has three scholarship quarterbacks on the roster, so Lourd provides much-needed depth at the position with a chance to eventually earn a scholarship.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound signal-caller from Los Angeles received an offer from LSU on Feb. 1. Outside of the Longhorns and Tigers, the primary programs recruiting Lourd were Florida Atlantic, Louisiana, Ole Miss and Liberty.
