Texas made great strides on the recruiting trail on Saturday.
Five-star offensive tackle Kelvin Banks announced his commitment to the University of Texas via Twitter. The news comes one day after head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff took an in-home visit.
Banks is rated the No. 2 offensive tackle prospect in the country and the No. 4 overall player in the state of Texas for the 2022 recruiting class, according to 247Sports composite.
Texas has not landed a five-star offensive lineman since 2009. Banks now becomes the highest rated player in Texas’ 2022 recruiting class.

Although much of the attention has surrounded quarterback Quinn Ewers this week, it cannot be overstated: Landing Banks is a massive recruiting win for Sarkisian’s staff.
Texas A&M was hoping that Banks would delay his decision until February, but Texas was impressively able to sway the 6-foot-5 lineman to Austin.
