Texas is in the mix for Oklahoma guard De’Vion Harmon via the transfer portal

Another highly sought-after player in the NCAA Transfer Portal is linked to the Texas Longhorns basketball program.

Chris Beard and the Texas Longhorns have been very busy in the NCAA transfer portal over the past week.

While many assumed that this would be a rebuilding year for Texas, Beard has other plans. He’s quickly assembled a solid roster in Austin, which could only get better if current players choose to return or he lands several others via the portal.

With the news on Wednesday of the Longhorns landing Utah transfer Timmy Allen, the team is again linked to another highly regarded player in the portal. This time, it’s within the Big 12 conference.

Oklahoma Sooners guard De’Vion Harmon has been linked to Texas recently. The Longhorns are one of six big name Division 1 schools that have reached out to the sophomore.

In his two seasons at Oklahoma, Harmon started 45 out of 56 games. In his second season, he averaged 12.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.1 steals per game, all while shooting 47.7% from the field, 33.0% from three-point range and 73.2% from the free throw line. He played 31.9 minutes per game.

The concept for the Texas Longhorns football program and new head coach Steve Sarkisian has been “All Gas, No Brakes.” With the way the offseason has gone for coach Beard and the basketball team, it seems the motto isn’t just exclusive to one sport at the University.
