It’s been a wild last few days on the Forty Acres. The suspense surprisingly isn’t coming from Texas football.
Since its season-ending loss to Miami, Texas has undergone an extreme makeover. Unfortunately, we’ve only seen the wrecking ball clobber the remains of last season’s loaded roster. That all changed Thursday as we saw positive trends on the portal recruiting front.
Thursday afternoon we learned that Oral Roberts transfer Max Abmas is trending toward a decision soon, with Texas and Kansas State reportedly in the lead. According to Keenan Womack of Rivals, Abmas could decide as early as this week.
Womack updated the current transfer portal board for Texas basketball. The list included Abmas, Virginia center Kadin Shedrick, Rice guard Quincy Olivari and Florida State playmaker Matthew Cleveland.
As noted by our colleague CJ Mumme, Abmas averaged a whopping 21 or more points over the last three seasons. Winning out for Abmas could allow Texas to get the ball rolling in recruiting. We’ll continue to update progress head coach Rodney Terry makes on next year’s squad.
It could be a two-team race for star transfer Max Abmas. https://t.co/irE9MkGC0N
