Sept. 12, 2020. It was the date circled on the original Texas Longhorns football schedule. After losing a close battle to Louisiana State in 2019, the Longhorns were looking to return the favor to the Tigers in Baton Rouge.
Then the whole COVID-19 situation popped up in March and eventually led to this game being canceled. Texas would eventually schedule UTEP on that date in a 59-3 drubbing to open the season.
To get the opportunity at the re-match, it would likely come in Houston as part of the Texas bowl. The latest projections have consistently put Texas in that game. Against LSU would just be the icing on the cake and an opportunity to avenge a loss.
