Newly hired head coach Steve Sarkisian is off to a great start on the Forty Acres.
His pipeline from his time on the West Coast as well as his offensive footprint while at Alabama has made Texas an attractive spot to play. Combine that with the school itself and its direct connection with the best talent in the country — you couldn’t ask for more.
Although it was a transition class between Tom Herman and Sarkisian, the 2021 cycle included several talented athletes led by five-star prospect Ja’Tavion Sanders. It wasn’t a top-10 class in the country, but it’s certainly talented enough to have numerous signees make an impact as true freshman.
Nearly two weeks after national signing day for the 2021 class, the Longhorns already have six verbal commits for the 2022 class. One rising three-star inside linebacker in Trevell Johnson, four different four-star recruits, and five-star quarterback Maalik Murphy.
At this point in time, Texas has the No. 5 overall recruiting class in the nation and the top class in the Big 12 with an average recruiting rating of .9520 according to 247Sports.
