Texas Football Recruiting: Longhorns options at QB in 2023 including Arch Manning

The Texas Longhorns need to look to the 2023 class at quarterback. With Quinn Ewers in the fold, could they get two number one passers?

Malachi Nelson from Los Alamitos (California)

Mike Yurcich is even heading out west to find his next quarterback. Malachi Nelson is ranked second to Arch Manning. He currently holds 18 scholarship offers. Nelson has the size and play style that Yurcich covets. According to 247Sports, the new offensive coordinator has spent time developing a relationship with Nelson.

In July at the QB Collective Event in Indianapolis where the No. 2 quarterback and No. 6 overall prospect shined, Nelson first mentioned his relationship with Kenny Dillingham who first offered him at Auburn with that relationship now carrying over to Florida State with the Seminoles offensive coordinator. With nearby USC, Nelson has connected with Clay Helton, Graham Harrell and Seth Doege. Texas offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich is building a personal rapport with Nelson, he’s been out to LSU and Ryan Day and Ohio State are making a strong impression early on as well. – per Heat Check on 247Sports
