In the Longhorns over the past several seasons, the slot receiver was a position of strength for this offense. Last year Devin Duvernay attacked opposing defenses from the slot and won at a very consistent basis. He finished with the second most receptions and yards in Longhorns history for a single season. This year it was expected that Jake Smith and Jordan Whittington would be the next.

Both Smith and Whittington have been in and out of the lineup with various injuries. The former sitting last time out against Oklahoma after a reagravation of his hamstring injury. Whittington would play but now is dealing with a hip flexor. The hope being that Smith can give it a go against Baylor.

Behind Smith, the offense could go with the duo of Brendan Schooler and Kai Money once again. They stepped up without either Smith or Whittington. However, this offense needs to find a way to get the production from the slot. Ehlinger excels on the underneath routes and that is where they can start to get the offense on track.
