The attrition continues on the defensive side of the ball for Texas as defensive end Jacoby Jones has declared for the 2022 NFL draft.
Jones enrolled at Texas ahead of the 2019 season after a standout junior college career. He was a two-time all-conference defensive end at Butler Community College and was the No. 2 JUCU defensive lineman in the 2019 class.
The 2021 season did not go exactly as planned for Jones. The defensive end suffered a foot injury against Oklahoma that caused him to miss the next five games of the season.

Jones returned for the season finally against Kansas State as Texas ended their six-game losing skid. The Longhorns were a much better team when Jones was healthy. Texas went 5-2 in games with Jones compared to 0-5 without him.
In his career, Jones finished with 63 total tackles, two sacks and one forced fumble across 27 games.
Texas has done a good job building talent at the defensive line in their 2022 recruiting class and will look to add more experience via the transfer portal.
