Texas’ new coaching staff is already feeling the exodus of current players entering the transfer portal. It was something in motion before Steve Sarkisian was named the head coach following the termination of Tom Herman.
One such player that decided a change of scenery would be best was former five-star cornerback Jalen Green. He waited until the new staff started to come together to announce that he would enter the NCAA transfer portal.
Green signed with the Longhorns as a part of the 2018 recruiting class. He was a five-star prospect and No. 1 player in the state of Texas according to his rating from 247Sports. His composite listed him as a four-star recruit and the No. 4 player in the state of Texas. He was a part of the No. 3 ranked class at Texas and only B.J. Foster and DeMarvion Overshown remain of the top five players signed from that group.
Green will now play in the Southeastern Conference for the Mississippi State Bulldogs. He made the announcement via his Twitter account on Saturday.

This will be a huge addition to Mike Leach’s team as they struggled on defense in 2020. For the Longhorns, they will likely use Darion Dunn to fill the void left by Green. Dunn is a transfer from McNeese State and could be in line to start for Pete Kwiatkowski and Terry Joseph at the third level of the defense.
