One of the most entertaining aspects of college football is the exchanges we see on social media between opposing fan bases.
There are often disputes as to which program is better in months like July when nothing is really happening outside of recruiting. While Texas had gotten off to a slow start in the 2024 class, being ranked around No. 60 in the country, their latest commitment from four-star athlete Aeryn Hampton among other additions has ascended Texas’ class to No. 18 in the country.
A ranking that is only expected to get better with the Longhorns viewed as the favorite for a handful of five-star recruits such as edge Colin Simmons and wide receiver Ryan Wingo.
Despite the narrative by one Texas Tech site that recruiting was apparently running through Lubbock and the dynamic was changing, the Longhorns are now eight spots ahead of the Red Raiders who are at the No. 26 class in the country.
Texas holds the No. 1 class if you are comparing it to the remaining and new Big 12 teams, and are working their way up the SEC rankings coming in as the No. 7 class with a higher average recruiting ranking than four of the programs ranked ahead of them.
