Texas commit Jaydon Blue rattles off 2022 prospects he wants to bring to Austin

TFB talked to Jaydon Blue after Pylon 7v7 and the 2022 RB started to rattle off some of the players he wanted to bring with him to Austin.

Some of the top prospects in the country are currently in Las Vegas participating in the Pylon 7v7 tournament. Texas commits Maalik Murphy and running back Jaydon Blue are among the players present.

These two players have been the most active recruiters for the Longhorns outside of the coaching staff. Murphy and Blue have been not only tweeting at each other to hype up the 2022 class, but also at other Texas prospects. Surely, behind-the-scenes work is being done as well.

The Football Brainiacs talked to Blue after the competition and the four-star running back started to rattle off some of the players he wanted to bring with him to Austin. He began with five-star wide receiver Kevin Coleman, who released his top eight schools on Saturday.

He then went on to mention Evan Stewart, who is already committed, and Fort Bend’s Chris Marshall. The current three-star wide receiver was also in Las Vegas and even sported Texas gloves while playing. Marshall is going to be one of the top risers in the 2022 class, where he’s only played football for the first time ever this past season.

Next, Blue mentioned the top offensive tackles in the state with Kelvin Banks and Kam Dewberry. Both are top priorities for the Longhorns, who need a major response to the poor offensive line recruiting during the 2021 cycle.

In-state rival Texas A&M is seen as the biggest competitor for both guys, but top lineman usually want to block for top backs. Texas has the top in-state running back with Blue.

The final name mentioned was one Texas fans are dying to know about more than anything.

“I’m about to get Quinn [Ewers] to flip,” said Blue. “I am bringing the whole country with me.”

Ewers is the former Texas commit who left for Ohio State after poor results on the field to begin the 2020 season. A potential sour relationship with Tom Herman could have factored into the decommitment as well.

With Steve Sarkisian running the show now, the Longhorns should have the opportunity to sneak their way back into Ewers’ commitment. Even with Murphy locked down, Texas could be open to the possibility of a two-quarterback class.

Blue is setting lofty expectations for the 2022 cycle and if it were to be pulled off, Texas would be looking at one of the top classes in the country. The Longhorns’ recruiting momentum can be felt, especially on the offensive side of the ball.
