Texas catches stray from five-star DL recruit David Stone

Oklahoma’s top target already has the disdain for Texas part down.

Being that Texas is one of the most notable brands in sports, many people are familiar with their Hook’em hand signal.

However, while Texas fans proudly display and support their favorite program, the infamous “horns down” has become a staple for opposing fans, players, and anyone who plans to mock Texas. It is something that the Big 12 now penalizes other teams for doing, but that doesn’t stop fans from doing it.

It isn’t common to see athletes do it unless they just beat Texas, which at that point feels acceptable. But, in the case of 2024 five-star defensive lineman David Stone, he hasn’t even committed to a college yet and is already throwing the horns down. In what appears to be an unprovoked social media post, the Oklahoma native and current IMG (FL) product tweeted horns down.

While the Longhorns did at one point offer Stone, it is evident that they are not in the mix and haven’t been for a while. He holds a couple crystal ball predictions to Oklahoma and Michigan State, while programs such as Miami and Florida are also in the mix.

Although there isn’t an announcement date for his commitment, based on this tweet one would have to imagine that Texas’ rival Oklahoma is very much in play for Stone. The 6-foot-4, 270-pound defensive lineman holds well over 30 offers and is scheduled to take official visits to Florida, Miami, and Oklahoma according to 247Sports.

Stone ranks as the No. 10 player in the country, No. 3 defensive lineman, and as the No. 3 prospect in the state of Florida.
