Texas had an up and down week, going 1-1 against ranked teams.
Tuesday saw an impressive overtime victory against Kansas, only to see it washed away by getting swept by Texas Tech on Saturday. Inconsistencies have remained the thorn in the side of the Longhorns.
A slight fall in the latest AP poll incurred after the two games. Texas fell one spot to No. 15, just ahead of arch-rival Oklahoma. The Sooners dropped nine spots after losing consecutive games to Kansas State and Oklahoma State (No. 17).
For the first time since the preseason poll, Baylor has fallen from the No. 2 spot in the poll. On top of a scare at home against Iowa State, Kansas handed the Bears its first loss of the season. Baylor is coming off of a long COVID-19 pause and have looked shaky during their restart. Michigan now holds the throne of ‘the best team in the country not named Gonzaga.’
Texas Tech remained No. 18 in the poll despite their home win against Texas. West Virginia continues to be one of the best teams in the Big 12, moving up four spots to No. 6.
