Texas Basketball: Longhorns defeat Iowa State on the road

The Texas Longhorns beat the Iowa State Cyclones on the road in a much needed win with the Big 12 Tournament looming.

The Texas Longhorns (15-7) led the Iowa State Cyclones throughout the first half, and even though the game got as close as a two-possession spread, they never lost the lead. Texas got a much needed win in Ames with a final score of 81-67.

Jalen Coleman-Lands of the Cyclones led all scorers with 22 points on 60% shooting, but the Longhorns had four players all finish in double figures. As a team, Texas improved their shooting in the second half, shooting 51% from the field and 45% from three-point range as a team.

Kai Jones continued his dominating performance from the first half, leading the Longhorns in points as well as a strong defensive showing with three steals, two blocks and five defensive rebounds.

Texas will play Oklahoma on Saturday in a rescheduled rematch. Several Big 12 teams are fighting for seeding in the conference tournament.
