Texas Basketball: Horns suffer loss to Texas Tech

The No. 14 Texas Longhorns lost their second game against the No. 18 Texas Tech Red Raiders, losing the series.

The game was tied 33–33 at halftime, and both teams came out with the same offensive intensity as they did in the first half. In the end, the Red Raiders won the conference matchup by a score of 68-59.

No. 18 Texas Tech (15-8) came out strong to start the second half, scoring 11 points in the first five minutes and led by as much as 11 all game.

No. 14 Texas was able to keep Mac McClung to only five points in the first half, but were unable to contain him as he scored 11 in the second half (16 for the game).

The only Texas players to score in double digits were Matt Coleman III (10) and Jericho Sims (11), while the seasons leading scorer, Andrew Jones, was 2-8 from the field (1-5 from 3-point range) for only eight points.

The Longhorns weren’t able to recover from the fast start in the second half and never regained the lead during Texas Tech’s run.

The Longhorns will look to bounce back Tuesday against last place Iowa State.
