The Texas Longhorns (15-7) have been 4-4 since their last matchup in Austin against the Oklahoma Sooners (14-8). They lost that game close, and haven’t been the same since. With only a matchup with TCU left, Texas needed a quality win to help their resume heading into the 2021 NCAA Tournament.
In their rematch on Thursday night, No. 15 Texas defeated No. 16 Oklahoma by a score of 69-65.
The Longhorns led 44-34 at the end of the first half, but not before a scary hit on Greg Brown’s face caused him to leave the game temporarily. He would return with just under three minutes to play in the first.
The Sooners took the momentum of an Austin Reaves buzzer beater at the end of the first half and a block from Kur Kuath on Kai Jones to climb back and take the lead 54-53 with just under eight minutes to play.

Jericho Sims was the one constant for the Longhorns and seemingly the only one to play well on both ends of the court, earning a double-double with 16 points on 80% shooting and 12 rebounds including two blocks.
Matt Coleman III didn’t have a single basket until six seconds to go in the game but it proved to be the one to seal it, giving Texas a two possession lead that Oklahoma wasn’t able to overcome.
Scoring Leaders:
Jericho Sims: 16 points, 12 rebounds
Austin Reaves: 16 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist
Andrew Jones: 16 points, 1 rebounds, 2 assists
