Texas Baseball: Longhorns enter crucial 14-game home stretch

Texas has a great opportunity to turn the tide with a 14-game home stand in front of them.

The 2023 Texas baseball season has not gotten off to a pretty start. Growing pains and offensive struggles are apparent as the Longhorns sit with a 4-7 record through 11 games.

Close games have been the difference early on for Texas. The Horns are 0-4 in one-run ballgames, including an extra-innings loss to drop the series against Cal State Fullerton on Sunday.

David Pierce is still waiting for his players to establish roles in both the lineup and the bullpen. We have seen flashes of good pitching performances, but consistency is missing.

Texas has an excellent opportunity to turn the tide with a 14-game home stand in front of them. The Longhorns host a pair of midweek games against Sam Houston and Mercer to get things going.

Stacking both wins and confidence is going to be essential for Texas before Big 12 Conference play begins. The young Longhorns roster needs to catch up to the speed of the game in a hurry.
