The Texas Longhorns (6-4, 4-3 Big 12) visit a familiar foe in conference opponent Kansas Jayhawks (6-4, 3-4) Saturday. Kickoff from David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium is set for 3:30 p.m. ET (FS1). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Texas vs. Kansas odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.
The Longhorns are coming off a 17-10 loss to 4th-ranked TCU last Saturday in which Texas was a 7.5-point home favorite. It was the lack of offense, especially the ground attack, that hampered Texas as star RB Bijan Robinson only rushed for 29 yards, well below his 125.4 rushing yards per game. The only touchdown for the Longhorns was DB Jahdae Barron’s 48-yard fumble recovery. QB Quinn Ewers only threw for 171 yards with 1 INT and a 43.6% completion rate (17 of 39 attempts).
Kansas lost 43-28 as a 3.5-point underdog at Texas Tech last week, likely wiping out any chance of making the Big 12 Championship Game. The defense struggled, giving up 510 yards and 26 first downs — though the KU offense finished with 525 yards (and 20 first downs). It didn’t help that the Jayhawks turned the ball over twice, which led to 2nd-quarter FG and a 4th-quarter TD (with 3:33 to go) for the Red Raiders.

Texas at Kansas picks and predictions
Prediction
Texas 35, Kansas 31
Moneyline
AVOID.
If there was less risk involved with a moneyline of -320, I’d suggest backing the Longhorns as they are the better team. However, Texas, which is 1-3 ATS in its last 4 games, hasn’t proven it’s worth this price.
I could see taking a chance with Kansas (+255), but I’ll focus on the spread below.
Against the spread
BET KANSAS +9 (-110).
This game will be closer than these odds suggest. This isn’t the usual Kansas squad that wins 3 games and looks terrible throughout the season. The Jayhawks started off 5-0 ATS and has the ability to not only make this game close, but the ability to win it.
Over/Under
LEAN OVER 63.5 (-111).
Both of these teams have very high-powered offenses, despite Texas’s last offensive performance, and the offenses will carry the Over. Texas has a lot of potential offensively and it tends to show up in bigger games, as it did against Oklahoma Oct. 8 in a 49-0 beatdown.
If both of these offenses show up, OVER 63.5 (-111) should cash.
