Texas among top schools for four-star cornerback Malik Muhammad

The Longhorns are in the mix for one of the top cornerbacks in the 2023 recruiting class.

The next two recruiting cycles are critical for the Texas football program.

It’s no secret that the 2022 and 2023 classes will play a key role in Steve Sarkisian’s future in Austin. There are numerous improvements to be made on the roster right now, and Sarkisian’s staff has hit the recruiting trail hard.

Texas is still finalizing their 2022 class with a handful of targets still left on the board, but the Longhorns have had a great start to the 2023 cycle and are in the mix for several of the nations top prospects.

On Friday, four-star cornerback Malik Muhammad announced the top schools left in his recruitment. Georgia, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Auburn, Alabama, SMU, Penn State, Michigan, Clemson, Ohio State and Oregon made the cut alongside Texas.

The Dallas native is rated the No. 6 cornerback in the country for the 2023 class and the No. 6 overall prospect in the state of Texas, according to 247Sports.

Muhammad is a two-sport athlete in football and track, and Sarkisian is known to value speed.
