The nation’s No. 1 linebacker prospect for the 2022 cycle released his top seven schools.

Texas is in the mix for the nation’s top linebacker prospect in the 2022 recruiting class.

Five-star linebacker Harold Perkins is one of the most sought after recruits in for the 2022 cycle and has earned scholarship offers from dozens of Power Five programs.

The Cypress, Texas native is rated the No. 1 linebacker in the country and the No. 4 prospect in the state according to 247Sports. Perkins recently announced his top seven schools and Texas made the cut alongside Alabama, LSU, Florida, Oregon, Texas A&M, and USC.

Perkins took official visits to Texas and Texas A&M in the month of June, with an unofficial to LSU sprinkled in as well. He currently has official visits planned with Florida and Oregon over the next few months.

In 2020, Perkins was a 16-6A first-team all-district selection at both running back and linebacker as a junior. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound playmaker recorded 47 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, six pass breakups and three forced fumbles. On the offensive side, he rushed for 983 yards and 14 touchdowns.

The Aggies appear to be in the lead for Perkins, as two 247Sports crystal ball predictions have been entered in their favor.
