The Longhorns remain in the hunt for TCU transfer defensive lineman Ochaun Mathis.
Considering Texas lacked a consistent pass rush last season, landing Mathis as an edge would be a massive win for Steve Sarkisian and his staff. The former Horned Frog entered the transfer portal on Jan. 12 and was instantly linked to Texas as the Gary Patterson rumors began forming.
Now that Patterson is officially a part of Sarkisian’s staff, many view the Longhorns as the favorite in his recruitment. On Thursday, Mathis released his top five schools. Texas made the cut alongside USC, Ole Miss, Penn State and Nebraska.
