Texas A&M stays alive in latest AP Top 25 Poll following Week 6

Despite a tough loss to Alabama in Week 6, the Aggies still received votes in the latest AP Top 25 Poll.

So, you’re saying there’s a chance? Texas A&M may have dropped a close one in their 26-20 loss to No. 11 Alabama, but the Aggies still received five votes in the newest AP Top 25 Poll.

The Maroon and White were unable to put together a complete game on Saturday as they fell for the second consecutive season to the Crimson Tide. Still, it’s keen to note the parameters at play. The Aggies were without their starting quarterback, they displayed a porous performance in pass protection, all while getting exposed in the secondary by Jalen Milroe and Jermaine Burton.

And yet, Texas A&M’s fearsome front seven tallied six sacks and eight tackles for loss against a tough Alabama team, which stayed put at No. 11 in the latest AP Poll. The fact that the Aggies lost by just six points, despite the hurdles placed against them, must be commended.

Georgia (No. 1) and Michigan (No. 2) held firm in their top-two rankings. Meanwhile, Ohio State (No. 3), Florida State (No. 4), and Oklahoma (No. 5) each moved up one spot.

Elsewhere in the rankings, six basketball blue bloods have made AP Top 25 history, in the college football poll! Yes, you read that correctly.

For the first time in the 87-year history of the AP football poll, the top six schools by appearances in the AP men’s college basketball poll are well represented in the football iteration of the poll. The list includes North Carolina (No. 12), Louisville (No. 14), Duke (No. 17), UCLA (No. 18), Kansas (No. 23) and Kentucky (No. 24).
