Texas A&M senior shooting guard Tyrece Radford earns SEC Player of the Week honors

The best men’s basketball player in the SEC the last week has been Aggies senior SG Tyrece Radford, which was confirmed on Monday afternoon.

This past week, the best men’s basketball player in the Southeastern Conference has been Texas A&M senior shooting guard Tyrece Radford.

Radford was named SEC Player of the Week on Monday afternoon, confirming what many people in College Station already knew. Junior point guard Wade Taylor VI and Radford led the Aggies (15-8, 6-4 SEC) to two conference wins this past week, 79-60 at Mizzou on Wednesday and 85-69 versus No. 6 Tennessee on Saturday night at Reed Arena.

Radford also earned Lute Olson National Player of the Week honors on Monday. Both accolades achieved by the senior sharpshooter are the first of his collegiate career. He averaged 24.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game this past week. During both SEC victories, Radford shot 53.1% from the field and 80% from the free-throw line.

The native of Baton Rouge, Lousiana has now scored at least 20 points in three consecutive games for the first time, averaging 25 in his last three contests. Texas A&M is 12-1 during games where Radford scores 20 or more points since arriving at Aggieland in 2021.

Taylor was named the Naismith Awards’ Player of the Week on Monday morning. On Saturday, the dynamic duo became the third pair of teammates in the last 25 years to each tally at least 25 points and 5 assists against a Top 10-ranked opponent.
