It looked like Texas A&M’s 19 transfer portal departures were the final number heading into the new year. Still, while the portal closed on Saturday, every team had five days after each program’s respective bowl game, meaning that every current Aggie has until Jan. 1st to enter the portal.
Well, the number has reached 20, as redshirt sophomore tight end Donovan Green has entered the portal after three injury-riddled seasons with the Aggies. The once-promising star in the making will now look to get back on track with another team in 2025.
While the news isn’t shocking, it was anticipated that Green would look to ascend the roster next season due to the team’s shallow tight end depth. However, with quarterback Conner Weigman transferring to Houston, the favored signal caller’s decision likely impacted Green’s own plans.
Green endured a season-ending ACL injury before the start of the 2023 season, and in 2024, the sophomore appeared in just seven games but was mostly limited to special teams on kickoffs.
During the 2022 season, Green reeled in 22 receptions, 233 yards, and two touchdowns.
Texas A&M TE Donovan Green has entered the transfer portal, @mzenitz and I have learned for @247Sports.
A four-star recruit in the 2022 class, Green had 22 catches for 233 yards in Year 1. Injuries have limited Green to 2 games the last 2 seasons. https://t.co/opfCWdVnDA pic.twitter.com/AEEuTDnn2e
