Texas A&M’s 2024 college football season is just five weeks away. Mike Elko’s inaugural season at the helm will begin with a primetime showdown against Notre Dame inside a packed Kyle Field on Saturday, August 31.
This weekend, Elko and his staff are hosting a talented list of 2025 and 2026 prospects, including several end-of-the-week visits from 2026 5-star quarterback Ryder Lyons and 2025 5-star safety Trey McNutt, who will announce his commitment on Saturday, August 3.
Last week, Elko continued to field offers to several 2026 prospects, which includes 2026 4-star wide receiver Travis Johnson out of Chesapeake, Virginia.
Johnson, who stands at 6’3″ and 195 pounds, is a versatile athlete and a star basketball player during the football offseason. On the field, Johnson is a huge target and a red zone threat, consistently utilizing his size and large catch radius once he establishes position.
Texas A&M’s 2026 recruiting class has two defensive commits. This weekend’s recruiting pool party could result in future commitments, as we’ve seen in years past.
According to 247sports, Johnson is currently positioned as the 132nd-ranked prospect in the 2026 cycle, the 19th-ranked wide receiver, and the 7th-ranked prospect in Virginia.
