Texas A&M lands in 2024 4-Star CB Cai Bates’ Top 10 program list

Texas A&M has made the cut for 2024 4-star cornerback Cai Bates, who recently revealed his Top 10 program list last week.

Texas A&M and head coach Jimbo Fisher are coming off a hectic recruiting week after several high-profile prospects in the 2024 recruiting cycle revealed their final programs lists ahead of what should be an exciting summer of visits and possible commitments.

With a continued focus on bulking up the defensive backfield for the future, Fisher and his staff have set their eyes on the 2024 four-star cornerback Cai Bates out of Orlando, Florida, who is entering his senior season at Edgewater High School, his final 2023 campaign.

On Wednesday, Bates released his Top 10 school list, including Florida, Florida State, Tennessee, Alabama, LSU, Colorado, UCF, Ohio State, Maryland, and Texas A&M. Knowing Fisher’s recruiting background in the state of Florida, it’s no surprise the Aggies are near the finish with the likes of Alabama and LSU.

Bate’s versatility as a former wide receiver is one of the primary reasons he has received over 43 offers so far, leading to his two-way player performance during his 2022 junior season, recording 17 receptions for 241 yards and one touchdown combined with four interceptions and seven pass breakups. His speed, length, and natural ball skills set him apart from an athletic standpoint, although he still needs time to adapt to the technical aspects of the position entirely.

According to 247Sports, Bates is positioned as the 9th-ranked cornerback and the 19th-ranked player in Florida. After offering him on March 21, Bates took an unofficial visit to College Station six days later, and even though an official visit has yet to be announced, expect some news sooner than later.
