Texas A&M Basketball has reportedly lost one of its key reserve guards ahead of the 2023-2024 season. Andre Gordon has been with the program since Head Coach Buzz Williams’s inaugural season in College Station and has entered the transfer portal.
Since the 2019-2020 campaign, Williams has played in 120 games, including 65 starts, while averaging a career-high 8.3 during his 2020 sophomore season. Still, due to the infusion of talent on the roster this offseason and middling playing time last season (15.2 minutes per game in 2023), the news is less surprising with the added context.

This offseason, Buzz Williams’ utilized the loaded transfer portal to fill multiple holes on the roster, specifically adding guards Jace Carer and Eli Lawrence. At the same time, 2023 four-star sharp shooter Bryce Lindsey joined the team this summer from the prestigious IMG Academy. With the return of All-SEC guard Wade Taylor IV, reliable veteran Tyrece “Boots” Radford, and former five-star Manny Obaseki, Andre Gordon is simply too talented to sit on the bench for his final collegiate season.
