Texas A&M Basketball will play three games in the Bahamas Tour ahead of the 2023-2024 season

Texas A&M Basketball will reportedly travel to the southeast to take on three pro teams in the Bahamas, a part of the international Bahamas Tour.

Set your August vacation plans because the 2023-2024 Texas A&M Basketball team will take part in a foreign tour set in the Bahamas, as the Aggies will play in three games vs. the international competition on the island.

With every matchup being held at the historic Atlantis resort on Paradise Island, the Aggies will face the Bahamas National Team in Game 1 on Monday, Aug 7, Zalgris (International Lithuanian Pro Team) in Game 2 on Wednesday, Aug 9, and Obras Basket (Argentinian Pro Team) in Game 3 on Thursday, Aug 10.

Noted by GigEm247’s Carter Karels, teams are only allowed to travel internationally for games every four years, as this is the first international trip for Texas A&M since the 2019 season, as the Aggies traveled to Costa Rica in Buzz Williams’s first season with the program.

Head Coach Buzz Williams noted his excitement for the Tournament, speaking on the cultural experiences that await them outside of the games.

“Obviously the international competition and the extra days of practice are important, but the biggest benefit of a foreign tour is broadening the experience for the student-athletes,” Buzz Williams stated. “This is a unique opportunity for our guys to experience another culture. We will also get to serve those less fortunate than us while we are there. Our program is grateful to our administration and the 12th Man for their support of our Bahamas tour and look forward to making some great memories.”

Texas A&M is coming off its best season under Williams in 2022, finishing 25-10 and 15-3 in the SEC, including their second consecutive appearance in the SEC Tournament Championship and their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament before falling to Penn State in the first round.

With four out of five starters returning next season, led All-SEC guard Wade Taylor IV and senior guard Tyrece Radford, who announced his return in May. While senior forwards Henry Coleman and Julius Marble finish the starting rotations, the Aggies added guards Jace Carter and Eli Lawrence through the transfer portal to fill out a deep bench. At the same time, Carter is slated to compete for the starting small forward spot after Dexter Dennis’s departure.

After CBS Sports recently ranked Texas A&M 15th in its preseason poll, the hype is definitely warranted, and after proving just how far they can go despite their short-lived Tournament showing, the future is now for the Maroon and White in 2023.
