Texas A&M Basketball drops in Joe Lunardi’s latest bracketology update

After losing two consecutive SEC matchups last week, Texas A&M is now back on the bubble in Joe Lunardi’s newest bracket update.

Texas A&M (15-10, 6-6 SEC) didn’t help their NCAA Tournament chances after losing two straight in SEC play last week, and while Saturday’s miserable 100-75 loss to No. 15 Alabama barely moved the needle position-wise, Tuesday’s last-second loss to Vanderbilt resulted in a damaging Quad 3 loss.

However, with six games remaining in the regular season, the Aggies received some good news on Sunday morning, as the early Feb. victory over the Florida Gators has now turned into another Quad 1 victory, giving A&M six on the year, tied with just 10 teams nationally.

What caused the Aggies’ sudden struggles just days after blowing out the highly-ranked Tennessee Volunteers the Saturday prior can’t be fully explained, outside of lack of consistent effort, with the blame making its way to head coach Buzz Williams and the players.

With multiple Quad 1 opportunities remaining, I’ve predicted that A&M must go at least 4-2 or, worse, 3-3 to punch their ticket to the tournament, which starts with defeating the struggling Arkansas Razorbacks at home on Tuesday night. For any of this to come to fruition, Williams must rely on the play of guards Wade Taylor IV and Tyrece Radford, who will need to play their absolute best basketball down the stretch.
