The Texas A&M Baseball program led by second-year head coach Jim Schlossnagle finished the 2023 regular season 32-23 and 14-16 in the SEC, which by most metrics has the Aggies in the NCAA Tournament after notable series wins against Kentucky, Florida, and Auburn.
After winning their final road series vs. Mississippi State two games to one this weekend, including a 15-10 Game three victory, Aggie fans are hopeful that momentum is on their side ahead of next week’s six-day SEC Tournament in Hoover, Alabama, as Texas A&M is officially a 10-seed, facing the 7-seed Tennessee Volunteers (38-18, 16-14 SEC) in a single elimination game next Tuesday at 12:30 pm CT.
If the Aggies pass the Volunteers, they will face the No. 2 seeded Arkansas Razorbacks (39-15, 20-10 SEC) in a double-elimination round the following Wednesday. How did Texas A&M fare this season against both opponents? Swept by both squads on the road in two of the more challenging environments in college baseball, so yes, while the task is arduous, memories can be made in Hoover, and a shot at the postseason is all this team is asking for. Gig ‘Em!
