Texas A&M earns another top-25 finish in the Learfield Directors Cup

Texas A&M Athletics keeps streak alive as they finish in the top-25 for 17th consecutive year

For the 17th consecutive year, Texas A&M has made the top-25 in the LEARFIELD Director’s Cup. So, what is the Directors Cup? Great question. The Directors Cup itself is an award given out based on points awarded to each institution depending on where they finish in the NCAA Championships.

It’s the brainchild of The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today with LEARFIELD being the title sponsor of the award, you can read more about them at the bottom of the article.

A fun fact about the NACDA is that Texas A&M Athletic Director Ross Bjock is currently serving as the 2nd Vice President and had to say this about the ranking

“The mission of Texas A&M Athletics is to create opportunities through championship athletics and I’m extremely proud of the hard work by our student-athletes, coaches and staff throughout the 2022-23 school year,” Director of Athletics Ross Bjork said. “It was gratifying to see the women’s tennis and women’s golf teams win SEC Championships, men’s basketball and baseball play in SEC Championship games, and three teams finish in the top five nationally.  While we are constantly pushing for more consistent success at the highest level, seventeen straight years in the top 25 of the LEARFIELD Directors’ Cup is an amazing run of consistency, and I’m certain that greater years are in our future.”

The Aggies finish the year at number 24 nationally and number 8 in the SEC while racking up 808.75 points on the season. Their best finish came in 2012-2013 placing number 5 with 1131.1 points. The SEC led all Division I schools with eight total teams in the top-25, but Stanford took the top spot with 1412 total points. Here are a few other noteworthy finishes Texas (2nd), LSU (9th), Alabama (12th), and Oklahoma (23rd).

There is currently an abundance of talent across Aggie Athletics this coming into a year of growth and experience that I believe will propel them back into the top ten in the final standings next year.
