Texans vs. Jaguars third quarter recap: Run game extends the lead

The Houston Texans run game was instrumental in building a 34-14 lead over the Jacksonville Jaguars in the third quarter.

Jaguars drive 7 — The Texans were able to turn the Jaguars three-and-out. Houston got a bit of a scare after the first play as S Justin Reid was down and needed help from the trainers. Reid walked off under his own power and could return.

Texans drive 8 — Houston goes with a dose of the run game, and gets about 25 yards and a first down before punting it away.

Jaguars drive 8 — The Jaguars go three-and-out again. DT Ross Blacklock almost had a sack of QB Trevor Lawrence.

Texans drive 9 — Houston continued to emphasize the run game to try to get upfield to the fourth quarter and keep Lawrence on the sideline. There was a mix of David Johnson, Mark Ingram, and Phillip Lindsay with some dump offs to TE Pharaoh Brown in between. Houston capped off the drive with a 5-yard touchdown run from Lindsay. Texans, 34-7

Jaguars drive 9 — Jacksonville won’t go away. Lawerence drove the Jaguars 75 yards in four plays, including a 41-yard touchdown pass to WR D.J. Chark. Of course, the drive was aided by DT Maliek Collins’ second roughing the passer call of the game. Texans, 34-14
