Texans to hire 49ers passing game coordinator Bobby Slowik for OC

DeMeco Ryans is making former 49ers pass game coordinator Bobby Slowik his offensive coordinator.

DeMeco Ryans’ offensive coordinator in Houston will come from the 49ers’ coaching staff. NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero on Sunday reported Ryans and the Texans will hire Bobby Slowik as their new offensive coordinator.

Slowik has been with the 49ers since 2017 when he arrived with Kyle Shanahan. He entered the organization as a defensive quality control coach before joining the offensive staff as an assistant in 2019. In 2021 he was promoted to offensive pass game specialist, and then received another promotion to pass game coordinator this season.

This will be his first venture away from Shanahan. He joined the NFL as a defensive assistant with Washington while Kyle Shanahan was the OC and Mike Shanahan was the head coach.
